Looking for that edge? This development session focuses on building simple, practical habits that support performance, recovery, and healthy growth. Players learn how to fuel properly before training and matches with balanced meals that include carbohydrates for energy, protein for muscle support, and fluids for hydration. Sessions cover smart snack choices, timing of meals, and how to avoid common pitfalls like skipping breakfast or relying on low-quality convenience foods. Game-day fueling is broken down into easy to follow strategies, helping players understand what to eat 3–4 hours before kick-off, what small top-up snacks can look like, and how to stay hydrated throughout. Post-training and post-match refuelling is also emphasized, teaching players how to combine protein and carbohydrates to support recovery, restore energy levels, and reduce fatigue. The aim is to give young athletes clear, age-appropriate guidance they can apply at home and school - building confidence around food choices that enhance performance, speed up recovery, and support long-term development. We might even get our hands dirty too!
